Mruczanka z Namysłem

Czytam sobie ostatnio eseje T.S. Eliota o literaturze (a w zasadzie o krytyce literackiej).

Uderzył mnie taki fragment:

(…) w stosunku do każdego pisarza zajmującegoi się estetyką skłonny jestem zadać sobie pytanie: „Jakie dzieła literackie, malarskie, rzeźbiarskie, muzyczne i architektoniczne rzeczywiście podobają się temu teoretykowi?”. Oczywiście, zawsze możemy – i na tym polega niebezpieczeństwo, na jakie może narazić się krytyk-filozof – przyjąć jakąś teorię, a potem wmówić sobie, że podobają nam się tylko te dzieła sztuki, które są z nią zgodne.

Kiedy słucham współczesnych teoretyków sztuki (zwłaszcza literatury), odnoszę wrażenie, że znakomita większość poszła dokładnie tą drogą…

A jak już jesteśmy przy Eliotcie:

When you notice a cat in profound meditation,
